Whilst we all share concerns about what is happening within several States and the ACT regarding Avian Influenza (AI ) and its various forms, all aviculturlists should read the below link and familiarize themselves with the current situation. It covers the various outbreaks and extent , hazards , biosecurity safeguards and measures to contain and restrict its spread , not only from private infected flocks , but also from wild birds.
Good hygiene practices and disciplined management through the proper quarantining of newly arriving birds onto any premises is advised.
In some areas permits are required for the movement of poultry.

There is no mention within the document of any death of a psittacine species attributed to the virus in Australia but as the article states, any unexplained death showing the predescribed symptons should be raised, either with your vet, or to biosecurity directly for follow up advice.
